A collective proposal by activists to guarantee women’s rights in Iran
Under the name of the Iranian Feminist Collective, a group of women’s movement activists have presented a draft proposal for a women’s rights bill, demanding fundamental changes during the formation of the founders’ parliament and the drafting of the constitution after the Islamic Republic. They are committed to the spirit of the revolutionary women’s movement and advocate for equality and diversity in terms of gender, ethnicity, and religion, aiming for freedom in women’s lives.
The drafters of this bill added that their goal in drafting the women’s rights bill is to create a precise and concise text that reflects the history of women’s struggles and their most important demands, so that it can easily be incorporated into future legal documents, including the new Iranian constitution.
They introduced themselves as a group of women’s movement activists from different backgrounds, with different ethnic, gender, and political-social perspectives. They added that throughout the years, the reaction of Iranian security forces to women’s actions has been suppression and violence without exception. However, today, more than ever, the international community is aware of the intensity and scope of state violence against women and the violation of human rights in Iran.
