China Draws New Lines and Marks for Taiwan

China draws new lines and warnings for Taiwan

China announced on Thursday that if Taiwan’s President Tsai Ing-wen meets with the Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives during her trip to the United States, it will take retaliatory actions.

Ms. Tsai left for the United States on Thursday morning and will then travel to Guatemala and Belize to strengthen diplomatic relations with Taiwan’s allies. She will then go to California, where she is scheduled to meet with Kevin McCarthy, the Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives, as previously announced.

China, which still hopes to reunify this democratic island as part of its territory, opposes any official diplomatic relations between the world’s countries and Taipei based on the One China principle, and considers any attempts in this regard provocative.
