Croatia joins the Schengen Area

As of Monday, March 26th, Croatia officially joins the Schengen Area of the European Union, allowing residents of this area to travel to Croatia without the need for visas.

The Schengen Area is the largest free travel area in the world, consisting of 27 countries, including 22 European Union member states, as well as Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, and Switzerland.

According to the latest statistics, approximately 2 million people live in one country of this area and work in another member country. Furthermore, more than 3 million people cross international borders in this area on a daily basis.
