Discovery of a large lithium reserve in the western part of the country
Iran has announced the discovery of a significant lithium reserve in the western part of the country, which is the main material used in the production of batteries for electric vehicles and electronic devices.
Ebrahim Ali Molabegi, an official from the Ministry of Industry, Mine, and Trade of Iran, stated that for the first time, a lithium reserve has been discovered in the country, specifically in Hamedan province. This discovery is promising for the potential discovery of more reserves in this province.
According to the Director-General of the Exploration Office at the Ministry of Industry, Mine, and Trade, the confirmed reserve in the mentioned area is eight million and 500 thousand tons of lithium ore.
Lithium, referred to as the oil of the 21st century, is used in the production of batteries for electric vehicles. As various countries have extensive plans to reduce and ultimately eliminate carbon dioxide emissions from gasoline in cars, the discovery of lithium reserves holds great importance.
This white metal is also a key component in the production of rechargeable batteries for mobile phones and other electronic devices.
