Attack with a cold weapon on 4 American university professors in China

According to authorities in the US and China, four university professors in the state of Iowa were injured in a knife attack while touring the city of Jilin in northeastern China.

Local police said the incident occurred on Tuesday, June 11, in a public park in the provincial center of the same name, Jilin City, where a 55-year-old man named Qiu, a resident of the city, was arrested as the attacker.

Police added that the man collided with a foreigner while walking in the park and then attacked this tourist and three other foreigners accompanying him, as well as a Chinese tourist who tried to stop him, with a knife.

The Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs also stated on Wednesday, June 12, that this incident was an isolated attack and will not affect relations between the Chinese and American people, and government measures to ensure the safety of foreign tourists will continue.

According to Reuters, American citizens apparently went to the public park in Jilin City to visit a temple.
