Borrell expressed concern in a conversation with Amir-Abdollahian about the possible transfer of Iranian missiles to Russia

Josep Borrell expressed concern in a conversation with Amirabdollahian about the possible transfer of Iranian missiles to Russia.

Josep Borrell, the EU’s foreign policy chief, informed about the conversation with Hossein Amirabdollahian, Iran’s foreign minister, and reiterated the EU’s concern about the potential transfer of Iranian missiles to Russia.

These remarks come as the Iranian Foreign Ministry, quoting Amirabdollahian, had previously stated that Iran’s foreign minister considered the claims about sending Iranian weapons to be against Ukraine as storytelling, baseless and frustrating.

Reuters reported on February 21, citing six sources, that Iran had sent around 400 ballistic missiles to Russia. According to this report, these shipments began in January 2024 after negotiations between Tehran and Moscow. However, White House National Security Council spokesperson John Kirby stated one day after this report that they still had no information about Iran’s sending ballistic missiles to Russia, but they could not definitively rule out potential future deliveries.
