Farzaneh Fasihi, the two-time Asia record holder, was not allowed to participate in the World Championship competitions

Fereshteh Fasihi, the record holder of two Asian competitions, was not allowed to participate in the World Championship.

Fereshteh Fasihi, the gold medalist and record holder of the Asian Women’s Championships, announced on her Instagram that she cannot participate in the World Championship. Last week, Ms. Fasihi broke the Asian Women’s 60-meter indoor record with a time of 7.20 seconds and won the gold medal.

The acting secretary of the Iranian Athletics Federation cited visa issuance as the reason for Fasihi’s absence from the World Championship in Glasgow, Britain. Mahdiyari told ISNA in an interview that the visa issue was that the UK embassy did not issue the visa, which has its own problems.

In a video released last year after Ms. Fasihi’s victory, it was seen that she tearfully dedicated her win to the people of Iran and said she only competed for the happiness of the Iranian people. She did not sing the national anthem in these competitions and dedicated her medal to the people of Iran.
