Hamed Ahmadi, the lawyer of Soheil Norouzmaadzadeh, has been granted temporary release from prison for treatment.
Soheil Norouzmaadzadeh, one of the detainees of the protests, was granted temporary release from prison for treatment today, February 22nd.
Hamed Ahmadi, the lawyer of Mr. Norouzmaadzadeh, announced this news on his Instagram story. He wrote that his client, Soheil Norouzmaadzadeh, has been granted temporary release for treatment according to Article 522 of the Criminal Procedure Code.
Soheil Norouzmaadzadeh was arrested on September 3, 2022, in Tehran. He was sentenced to death on charges of insurgency through destruction and arson of public and social property and rebellion with the intention of committing crimes against national security and disrupting public order and tranquility by participating in protests in Tehran Revolutionary Court.
On March 30, 2023, the fate of Soheil Norouzmaadzadeh was decided, and the case was referred to the Revolutionary Court Branch for further consideration. The death sentence for Soheil was overturned, but the charge of insurgency remained, and he was sentenced to 10 years in exile and 6 years in prison in Branch 26 of the Revolutionary Court.
Mr. Norouzmaadzadeh denied the charges in court and stated that a protest gathering took place outside his place of business on one of the streets in Tehran, and he had no intention of causing unrest at his workplace.
