Iran's Representative in Doha Meeting Should Make Decisions on Afghanistan Without Imposition

Iran’s representative at the Doha meeting should make decisions about Afghanistan consultative and non-imposing.

Hassan Kazemi Qomi, the special representative of the Iranian president in Kabul who participated in the Doha meeting, says that decisions regarding Afghanistan should be consultative and non-imposing.

Mr. Kazemi Qomi has written on social media that decisions at the Doha meeting should be collective, based on mutual consultation, and non-imposing in international processes, with priority given to Afghanistan.

He also held a meeting of the regional contact group with representatives from China, Pakistan, Russia, and Afghanistan’s neighbors last month. This committee also held a meeting at the Taliban’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Kabul.

Iran’s representative has emphasized that decisions should be based on the mutual and legitimate interests of Afghanistan, the region’s neighbors, and the international community.

Mr. Kazemi Qomi has also mentioned that he had meetings with representatives from Switzerland and Britain, as well as Sohail Shaheen, a Taliban diplomat, in Doha.
