An Iranian photographer from the Islamic Republic newspaper has been tortured in the Taliban consulate in Mashhad

An Iranian photographer has been tortured in the Taliban consulate in Mashhad, as reported by the Islamic Republic newspaper.

The Islamic Republic newspaper reported that a Taliban diplomat dragged an Iranian photographer into the Afghan consulate in Mashhad and tortured him there.

Although the newspaper did not disclose the identity of the Iranian photographer, it questioned in an article titled ‘Taliban’s Neck-Snapping in Iran’ why some in Iran behave in ways that seem to pursue political flirtations with the Taliban and jeopardize Iran’s national interests.

The Islamic Republic newspaper mentioned a Afghan diplomat named Salim, known as Dr. Salim, who dragged an Iranian photographer into the Afghan consulate in Mashhad and tortured him there.

As a result of this incident, with the complaint of this individual, that diplomat has been expelled from Iran and another diplomat from the Taliban has been appointed to replace the guilty party.
