After 10 years, the Joint Economic Commission between Iran and the UAE is being held.
The Joint Economic Commission between Iran and the UAE is convening a session for the first time in 10 years.
Iran’s ILNA news agency reported that the Joint Economic Commission of the United Arab Emirates and Iran will hold a session in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday and Wednesday, 11th and 12th of Ordibehesht.
This meeting will be chaired by Mehrdad Bazrpash, the Iranian Minister of Roads and Urban Development, and Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri, the UAE Minister of Economy, as the heads of the Iranian and Emirati sides of this commission.
This meeting is taking place as Tehran seeks to strengthen economic relations with Gulf countries amid increasing pressure from the United States.
Dubai has long been one of Iran’s main gateways to the outside world, but relations between Iran and the UAE became tense in Esfand 1394 after a group of supporters of the Islamic Republic attacked diplomatic premises of Saudi Arabia in Tehran and Riyadh, causing Abu Dhabi to downgrade its relations at the same time.
Since 2019, the two countries have taken steps to reduce tensions, and in the years that followed, the UAE reinstated its ambassador to Iran.
