Members of a pyramid scheme fraud gang were arrested in Sari by the Mazandaran Police Intelligence.
The head of the Mazandaran Police Intelligence announced the arrest of members of an active pyramid scheme fraud gang in Sari, stating that so far more than 600 victims have been identified with losses exceeding 1000 billion Rials.
Colonel Ali Ghaisari explained that for years, individuals using aliases under the guise of investment companies or pyramid schemes have been able to deceive citizens, especially uninformed individuals, with enticing advertisements both in real and virtual spaces, promising astronomical and guaranteed profits through pyramid scheme activities, posing a significant challenge for families, especially young job seekers in society.
He further added that according to received reports, individuals in the city of Sari have recruited and defrauded many people through a company called WDC, operating as a pyramid scheme. Due to the sensitivity of the matter, it has been promptly placed on the agenda of the Mazandaran Police Intelligence’s Anti-Counterfeiting and Fraud Division detectives.
The chief of police intelligence of Mazandaran province stated that in field investigations, detectives found that two leaders of the mentioned company, with the collaboration of another one of their brothers residing in Germany, promoted the company’s platform, WDC network marketing, in the virtual space, promising digital currency transactions and substantial profits with a minimum membership of $100. They recruited over 600 people nationwide and ultimately engaged in fraud. The matter was reported to the judicial authorities and necessary orders were issued for the identification, investigation, and arrest of the suspects.
