Minister of Communications claimed they wanted to shut down the internet on election day

The Minister of Communications claimed that they wanted to cut off the internet on the day of the elections.

Zarepour, the Minister of Communications, stated that extensive efforts were made to disrupt the country’s communication network before and on the day of the elections. Even images of it were published. We had an incident where three to four days before the elections, a meter and a half of land was dug up and they had reached the fiber, but they did not cut it. It was planned to be done on the day of the elections because they knew that there were patrols on that day and they wouldn’t be able to dig. In some areas, the pipes were cut with a grinder, and all they needed to do was cut the fiber cable. In fact, they were prepared in advance.

Alongside physical attacks, various individuals reported cyber attacks that were investigated and resolved. We had a significant number of attacks, to the extent that on the day of the elections alone, we had close to 70 cases of DDOS and DOS attacks.
