The Minister of Guidance of the Islamic Republic urges protesting artists to repent for returning to Iran.
Mohammad Mehdi Esmaeili, the Minister of Guidance of the Islamic Republic, has welcomed the return of artists to Iran in his latest remarks.
Esmaeili said on Monday, July 14, in Tehran that we had artists who went abroad, played in forbidden movies, expressed regret, returned, and are now acting in our films. This is similar to that artist, what’s wrong with it?
The Minister of Guidance added that if an artist repents upon returning to Iran and before the court session, the court is obligated to drop the punishment, even the execution of the sentence.
Esmaeili criticized the practices that prevent artists from returning to Iran and working, and he said, ‘If you want to punish, say you are banned for two years, everything has a price, they say they have no right to come to Iran and have no right to work.’
