Mohammad Taghi Fazeli Meibodi and Mahdi Karoubi have been infected with coronavirus

Mohammad Taghi Fazeli Meybodi has contracted coronavirus.

Mohammad Taghi Fazeli Meybodi, a member of the Assembly of Qom Seminary Scholars, has informed about Mehdi Karroubi’s infection with coronavirus.

Mr. Meybodi stated in a message on social media that Mr. Karroubi has been hospitalized due to coronavirus.

He also mentioned that he did not have the opportunity to speak to Mr. Karroubi during a phone call.

Mehdi Karroubi was a candidate in the 2009 Iranian presidential election who, along with Mir Hossein Mousavi, objected to the announced results and has been under house arrest with Zahra Rahnavard since February 2011.

Last year, according to their families, it was reported that some restrictions on the house arrest of Mr. Karroubi, Mr. Mousavi, and Ms. Rahnavard had been eased, allowing Mr. Karroubi to meet with his family and granting Mr. Mousavi and Ms. Rahnavard permission to make phone calls to individuals other than family members.
