Shahbaz Sharif becomes Prime Minister of Pakistan

Shahbaz Sharif becomes the Prime Minister of Pakistan.

New members of the Pakistani parliament voted for Shahbaz Sharif from the Nawaz faction of the Muslim League as the Prime Minister.

This is the second term that Mr. Sharif has been elected as the Prime Minister of Pakistan.

Shahbaz Sharif won with 201 votes, defeating his rival Omar Ayub Khan, who was supported by Imran Khan, the former imprisoned Prime Minister.

The Prime Minister election, held several weeks after the general elections, was controversial in this country, where the elections had no clear winner.
