Some gold sellers in Tehran market went on strike

Some gold traders in the Tehran market went on strike.

Some gold traders in the Tehran market went on strike for the second day in protest against the tax bill passed by the Iranian parliament and closed their shops.

This protest action, which started on Monday, the ninth of Ordibehesht month, continued on Tuesday based on images shared on social media networks.

The Telegram channel ‘Civil Protest of the Market’ reported that in Tabriz, gold traders in the market of this city also stopped working on Tuesday in protest against the same tax bill of the parliament.

Members of the Iranian parliament amended two articles of the bill on taxing speculation and gambling on Monday to secure the approval of the Guardian Council.

President Ebrahim Raisi withdrew the proposal for taxing capital gains from gold in Ordibehesht 1402, under which gold traders were required to pay taxes to the government for gold assets over 150 grams.
