The White House announced that following the Israeli army’s order to evacuate about 100,000 residents of the eastern city of Rafah in southern Gaza, Joe Biden will have a telephone conversation with Benjamin Netanyahu.
International news agencies reported on Tuesday, April 27, quoting a National Security Council spokesperson at the White House, that we cannot talk instead of the Israeli army. We have clearly informed the Israeli government of our views on the extensive ground invasion of Rafah, and the President of the United States will speak with the Prime Minister of Israel today.
He also reminded that the continuation of negotiations between Israel and Hamas to reach a ceasefire in the Gaza war and the release of Israeli hostages is the best way to prevent an attack on Rafah.
Media have reported that the start of efforts to evacuate residents indicates that the Israeli ground invasion of Rafah is imminent.
