The President of Ukraine stated that 31,000 of our soldiers have been killed in the war against Russia.
Al Jazeera reported that Volodymyr Zelensky, referring to the 31,000 soldiers killed in the war with Russia, said that each person who dies is a defeat for Ukraine. He added that tens of thousands of civilians in the occupied areas of Ukraine have also been killed, but accurate statistics will not be available until the end of the war.
Russia has also provided official casualty figures. A Russian independent media outlet named Mediazona reported on Saturday that about 75,000 Russian men lost their lives in the years 2022 and 2023 in the war. A U.S. intelligence report declassified in mid-December 2023 estimated that 31,500 Russian soldiers have been killed or wounded in Ukraine. According to this report, if this figure is accurate, 87% of the approximately 36,000 Russian soldiers have been killed.
Meanwhile, the President of Ukraine has warned that Russia intends to launch new attacks in its spring offensive starting from May.
