A Direct Iranian Attack on Israel Will Prompt a Stronger Israeli Response, Says the United States

The United States says a direct attack by Iran on Israel will lead to a stronger Israeli response.

The United States warned Iran through a message sent via an intermediary country that if a direct attack on Israel occurs in the coming days, Israel’s response will be more extensive and greater than what happened in April. The message refers to a time when hundreds of missiles and drones were launched from Iranian territory and regional countries towards Israel.

A Western diplomat who has seen the contents of the U.S. warning told Haaretz that the Iranians received the clear message that if they attack Israel directly for the second time within six months, it will be difficult for the United States to restrain Israel.

In the same context, an American official told CNN that preparations for joint defense are underway, and this could include changing the U.S. military posture in the region.
