After meeting with the leader of China, Biden still considers him a dictator.
The President of the United States expressed confidence on Thursday after a 4-hour conversation with Xi Jinping, the leader of China, that the tense relationship between the US and China is improving. He discussed agreements between the two countries regarding combating drug supply chains and revitalizing military communications. However, he acknowledged that deep pressures on the tense relationship between the two countries still remain.
According to CNN, Biden said that he and Xi have agreed to talk to each other during periods of disagreement over the phone, considering these conversations as the most useful and constructive negotiations between the two countries. He also added that the two sides still have differences.
Nevertheless, after a press conference, Biden stated that despite the progress made during the meeting with his Chinese counterpart, he still considers Xi a dictator.
In response to a reporter’s question about whether he still believes Xi is a dictator, Biden replied, ‘Yes, that’s correct. I mean, he is the leader of a country that is governed by a communist regime and has fundamental differences from our governing model.’
