The Agriculture Commission approved the qualification of Farzaneh Sadegh, the proposed nominee for the Ministry of Roads.
The spokesperson for the Agriculture, Water, and Natural Resources Commission of the Parliament announced the commission’s approval of the plans of the proposed Minister of Roads and Urban Development.
In today’s afternoon public session of the Parliament, Somayeh Rafiei read the opinion of the Agriculture, Water, and Natural Resources Commission regarding Farzaneh Sadegh, the proposed Minister of Roads and Urban Development.
If she receives the vote to become the minister, she will be the first female Minister of Roads in Iran’s history and the second female minister in the history of the Islamic Republic.
In Masoud Pezeshkian’s proposed cabinet list, Farzaneh Sadegh is the only woman among the ministers.
She is recognized as an influential figure in Iran’s architecture and urban development policies. In 2018, during Mohammad Eslami’s presidency and in Hassan Rouhani’s cabinet, she was appointed as the Deputy for Urban Development and Architecture.
In August 2023, Mehrdad Bazrpash removed her from the deputy position in this ministry. At that time, her letters addressed to Alireza Zakani, the Mayor of Tehran, regarding the construction in the dilapidated areas of Tehran attracted media attention.
