Amnesty International statement on the shameful anniversary celebration of the founding of the Islamic Republic amidst decades of massacre
On Monday, February 17, Amnesty International released statements declaring that the refusal of the authorities of the Islamic Republic, especially former diplomats of the government, to acknowledge the 1967 massacre has led to the perpetuation of cycles of international crimes and cover-ups in order to eliminate any political dissent.
In its statement, Amnesty International protested the role of former diplomats of the Islamic Republic in covering up the 1967 massacre, as well as the dissemination of false information and obstruction of international investigations in the face of numerous solid evidence regarding the execution of thousands of political prisoners in the summer of 1967.
The statement refers to the shameful anniversary celebrations of the founding of the Islamic Republic amidst decades of mass killings and concealment. After more than forty years, the current authorities of the Islamic Republic of Iran continue to employ similar strategies to hide international crimes and other serious human rights violations, while using their forces to suppress ongoing nationwide protests.
