Araghchi’s Warning in Turkey

Araghchi’s Warning in Turkey: Seyed Abbas Araghchi, our country’s Foreign Minister, has a series of intensive regional trips on his agenda. During a series of continuous consultations on regional issues, he arrived in Istanbul early Friday morning, October 19. Araghchi, during this trip, which was made to participate in the meeting of Foreign Ministers of the Caucasus Regional Cooperation Mechanism known as 3+3, also met with Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, the President of Turkey, his Turkish counterpart Hakan Fidan, and Ararat Mirzoyan, the Foreign Minister of Armenia.

The meeting with the President of Turkey occurred as part of a collective meeting of the foreign ministers present at this summit with Erdoğan. An official meeting between Araghchi and members of the Hamas Political Council was also held. During the meeting with his Turkish counterpart, Araghchi warned about the regional situation, stating that the likelihood of war in the region is a serious possibility, and no one in the region, except the Zionist regime, benefits from this situation.

During this trip, our Foreign Minister also reacted to recent statements by Biden. Joe Biden, the President of the United States, claimed yesterday that he is aware of the timing and manner of Israel’s attack on Iran. In response to this comment, Araghchi wrote on Twitter that anyone who claims to have knowledge of the timing and manner of Israel’s attack on Iran or provides equipment and support for such foolishness will logically bear responsibility for any potential damage.

Istanbul is one of the many destinations of the intensive trips by our country’s head of diplomacy aimed at regional consultations. Before traveling to Turkey, Araghchi went to Cairo. After arriving in Cairo, Araghchi met and talked with Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, the President, and Badr Abdel Atty, the Foreign Minister of Egypt.

Before Cairo, the Foreign Minister had traveled to Jordan and met with King Abdullah II and Ayman Safadi, the Foreign Minister of Jordan, in Amman. Araghchi had previously made trips to Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Oman. Yesterday, in a joint press conference with the Turkish Foreign Minister, Araghchi stated that the likelihood of war in the region remains a serious possibility, and no one in the region, except the Zionist regime, desires this situation.

In this meeting, Seyed Abbas Araghchi mentioned that after important negotiations yesterday within the 3+3 framework regarding the Caucasus, he had bilateral talks with the President and Foreign Minister of Turkey. He said that yesterday, the second Southern Caucasus meeting was successfully held following the first meeting in Tehran.

Participants emphasized peace and stability in the Caucasus, viewing the realization of peace as a reflection of cooperation among regional countries, and expressed their opposition to the presence of extraregional forces. Combating terrorism is a mutual problem, ensuring border security, environmental issues, increasing cooperation in the energy sector, joint investments, strengthening banking and tourism connections, and the peaceful use of nuclear energy were among the topics discussed by both parties. The year 2025 has been designated as the cultural year for both parties, and we have diverse programs planned, confident that Iran and Turkey, as two countries with ancient cultures, can strengthen their ties.

The Foreign Minister added that we discussed regional issues, particularly the ongoing crimes of the Zionist regime and its approach to expanding war in the region, which is not acceptable to any party in this region. Both countries believe that the genocide in Gaza and the crimes in Lebanon must be stopped immediately, and all Islamic countries must use all their capacities to stop Israel.

The region has become a powder keg, which could pose a serious threat to the world, and the possibility of war remains serious. No one, except the Zionist regime, desires this issue, but we are prepared for any scenario.

Meeting with Erdoğan
