Arrest of 4 Cultural Activists in Nowshahr and Tehran by Security Forces

On Friday, 10th of Ordibehesht, teachers and cultural activists held protest gatherings in 10 cities in Iran including Tehran, Harsin, Islamshahr, Ghorveh, Aligudarz, Marivan, Saqqez, Khomeinishahr, Qazvin, Rasht, and Yasuj to mark Teacher’s Day.

The Coordination Council of Cultural Associations reported the arrest of four individuals during the teachers’ gathering in Tehran, with one of them still remaining in detention.

According to the Council, Mehdi Ghaderi, Mehdi Farahi Shandiz, Vahid Mosi Dehsari, and Davood Bayeste were arrested by security forces and Mehdi Farahi Shandiz is still in detention.

During their nationwide gatherings, cultural activists demanded the release of all imprisoned cultural figures, free education for all, and the elimination of all forms of gender discrimination while protesting against the suppression and intimidation of teachers.
