Nika Shakermi’s aunt, Nika, had all her teeth shattered.
In his Instagram post, Shakermi’s uncle, Nika Shakermi, mentioned that when they received the body of his niece at the morgue, all of her teeth were shattered, as she was killed during the protests in Tehran.
Mrs. Shakermi, who went to the dentist to have her teeth treated, says that the horrifying pain she experienced at the dentist reminded her of Nika. Tears would sometimes well up, and she could sometimes hold herself back, but at times she couldn’t help but cry out, realizing how much pain Nika must have endured.
Nika Shakermi was a 16-year-old female protester who went missing after participating in the first demonstrations in Tehran in September 2022 on Keshavarz Boulevard.
After nearly 10 days of no news, Nika’s family was summoned to identify her body. After identification and the transfer of the body from Tehran to Kermanshah, according to sources close to the family, security forces stole the body from the Kermanshah morgue and secretly buried it in a remote village far from the desired location by the family.
The Iranian Judiciary has labeled Nika Shakermi’s death as suicide, but her family insists that she was killed by security forces.
