Benjamin Netanyahu says that a military action is the best way to deter Iran’s nuclear ambitions.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has stated that a credible military threat or action is the best way to dissuade Iran from pursuing nuclear weapons. However, the longer this is delayed, the more difficult it becomes to carry out.
According to the Jerusalem Post, during a speech at the Herzliya National Security Conference in Tel Aviv, he said that the only reliable way to prevent rogue states from developing nuclear weapons is a credible military threat or action.
He added that this could be combined with crippling economic sanctions, but that alone is not sufficient. A credible military threat or action is often a necessary condition.
During the conference, he told Wall Street Journal columnist Walter Russell Mead, ‘The longer you wait, the harder it gets. We have waited for a long time.’
