44 students were poisoned by carbon monoxide gas in the female dormitory of Shahid Beheshti University

Following the poisoning of 44 students by carbon monoxide gas in the female dormitory of Shahid Beheshti University, Iranian media have reported that the university’s student affairs deputy has resigned from their position.

Tehran’s fire department announced that this morning, due to a technical fault in the boiler room of a female student dormitory belonging to Shahid Beheshti University, 44 students were poisoned by gas inhalation.

According to the IRIB news agency, this dormitory is located on Daneshjoo Boulevard in Velenjak.

Jalal Maleki, the spokesperson for Tehran’s fire department, said all these students were evacuated from the site and handed over to emergency services. He mentioned that the dormitory might be sealed off until the fault in the boiler system is resolved.

Tehran’s emergency services also stated that upon receiving the report of carbon monoxide poisoning, responders went to the scene of the incident.
