The number of casualties on Thursday is 24% higher than last year's statistics

The number of casualties on Chaharshanbe Suri this year is 24% higher than last year.

The head of Iran’s Emergency Organization says this year the number of casualties in incidents related to Chaharshanbe Suri has increased by 24% compared to last year.

Jafar Miadfar stated that in the past three weeks, 10 people lost their lives, 37 suffered limb amputations, 138 sustained eye injuries, and 196 were burned.

According to Mr. Miadfar, 15% of the injured were passersby.

The head of Iran’s Emergency Organization added that among the casualties, 90% were male, 10% were female, and 67% were under 18 years old.

On the evening of Tuesday, March 13th, Iranians traditionally celebrate Chaharshanbe Suri, the last Tuesday of the year.
