Central Bank Chief: Monthly Transactions of Cryptocurrency Exchanges Amount to 35 Trillion Tomans

The Central Bank Governor states that the monthly transaction volume of cryptocurrency exchanges is 35 trillion tomans.

Mohammad Reza Farzin, the Central Bank Governor, announced statistics about the performance of cryptocurrency exchanges at the 11th Annual Conference on Modern Banking and Payment Systems.

According to him, currently, 218 brokers are active in the cryptocurrency sector, with the monthly transaction count of these exchanges being 10 million, and the value of these transactions amounting to 35 trillion tomans.

Farzin considered these numbers significant and said that crypto could impact the country’s financial stability. He emphasized the need for careful engagement in this sector, coupled with precautionary policies, to maximize the benefits in this industry.

He stressed that engaging in this sector does not mean unregulated restriction but rather structuring the industry within the framework of national interests.

The Central Bank Governor made these remarks while, over the past month, two unforeseen restrictions were imposed on the market participants.
