The CEO of Ahvaz Power Plant confirmed the use of Mazut as fuel

The CEO of Ahvaz Mazut-fired Power Plant confirmed it.

The CEO of Ramin Ahvaz Power Plant also confirmed the use of mazut in this power plant.

According to the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting Agency, Mohsen Hafezi, the CEO of Ramin Ahvaz Power Plant, announced on Saturday, January 5th, the approval of using mazut fuel in one of the production units of this power plant by the Supreme National Security Council.

According to Mr. Hafezi, the reason for this approval is the necessity of supplying the required gas for people in cold regions of the country due to the cold weather and gas pressure drop. The use of mazut fuel in Ramin Power Plant has been done after coordination with the Governorate, Environmental Organization, and the Provincial Government.

In recent weeks, responsible officials in Iran have been announcing the burning of mazut in several power plants.

This is despite the fact that relevant authorities in the Islamic Republic, including the head of the Environmental Protection Organization, have denied the burning of mazut in major cities in the past two months and have attributed the air pollution to the number of vehicles and weather inversions during the winter season.
