Commander of Anzali's Law Enforcement Detained Following Mehran Samak's Death

Following the death of Mehran Samak, the commander of Anzali’s police force was arrested.

Seyed Majid Ahmadi, the attorney for Mehran Samak’s family, who was killed during last week’s unrest in Anzali, announced the arrest of the commander of Bandar Anzali’s police force.

Ahmadi, after 7 days since the murder of Mehran Samak, through persistent follow-ups and examination of evidence and documentation, eventually had Jafar Javanmardi, the commander of Bandar Anzali’s police region, charged with failing to comply with the law on the use of weapons leading to the intentional murder of Mehran Samak. He was charged in the first branch of the military prosecutor’s office in Gilan, issued a temporary detention order, and sent to prison. He is currently in Rasht’s central prison.
