Conditional Pardon
Granting freedom to prisoners, albeit with conditions imposed by the government, has raised concerns, especially for those who have not been released. Many protesters, including well-known rapper Tomaj Salehi and popular figure among the protesters and many other opponents, are still at risk. They are subjected to brutal torture in prisons to force them to confess against themselves.
Tomaj Salehi’s official Twitter account has mentioned a letter written for his release, which is supposed to reach the hands of politicians and parliament representatives of other countries for signing and ultimately be sent to international organizations for action. The message states that we need the help of all of you, especially compatriots outside of Iran.
There are many others in prisons who are either completely anonymous or do not have enough fame to gain support from international organizations. The Kurdish Human Rights Network has also reported the hunger strike of Milad Karimi and Mohsen Beshiri, two Kurdish activists who were transferred to solitary confinement in Urmia Central Prison last week after announcing their hunger strike.
