Conviction of aircraft motor smugglers in Iran with a value of 96 billion rials

The Director General of Government Sanctions in Hormozgan Province announced on Tuesday, 27th Azar, the conviction of a group of smugglers of an Airbus aircraft motor worth over 96 billion rials.

According to Fars News Agency, Keyumars Hasanpour stated that the value of this Airbus aircraft motor is 4 billion and 827 million rials.

The term ‘Nagleh’ is commonly used in the southern ports and customs of Iran to refer to packaged and usually expensive imported goods.

The news of the smuggling of an Airbus aircraft motor has been released while some officials and experts in the past years have warned about the bankruptcy of the country’s aviation industry due to the grounding of a large number of airplanes.

According to experts, Iran’s aviation fleet needs a minimum of 400 new aircraft for reconstruction. However, the country’s economic situation and economic sanctions resulting from nuclear programs have hindered the reconstruction and modernization of this fleet.
