Debate About Debate

Donald Trump and Kamala Harris have finally failed to agree on a date and host for a debate with each other, and it is Trump who has shown strong concern about the current state of the 2024 election competition. The second scheduled debate between him and Biden was supposed to be hosted by ABC on September 10th, but Trump is now demanding the debate to be held on September 4th. Trump, who has been attacking ABC and its hosts in his speeches and interviews for several days, has even escalated these attacks to strange and ugly levels. He has set the stage for insisting on hosting the debate by Fox and has announced this request with new conditions. He is demanding a debate not only with the presence of an audience, which seems challenging given the huge number of spectators in a stadium or large hall. It appears that Trump, who does not see a way back, has only found a way to hold a big show with the support of a friendly network that allows him to say whatever he wants and has no control over him. So far, Harris and his campaign have not accepted these requests and have announced that he will be present at the agreed-upon location for the debate on September 10th, and Trump can come if he wishes.
