A deputy of the judiciary has expressed support for the protests against Twitter, WhatsApp, and Instagram.
Kazem Gharibabadi, the deputy for international affairs of the judiciary of the Islamic Republic of Iran, has stated that Twitter, WhatsApp, and Instagram have supported the protests that started in Shahrivar month.
Mr. Gharibabadi said in a television program that it is not the case that WhatsApp, Twitter, and Instagram come to the field for freedom of expression, but rather it is a combination of warfare in which the media and the virtual space must play their role.
The deputy of the judiciary of Iran stated that Twitter opened four Farsi accounts in the fourth month, but in the first month of the recent disturbances, 50,000 fake Farsi accounts were opened by robots to create a war against Iran, which was well managed.
Twitter has been filtered since the protests against the results of the presidential elections in 2009, and the authorities of the Islamic Republic have also filtered Instagram and the messaging app WhatsApp during the recent protests.
