The destruction of 2,500 historical artifacts in Shiraz due to the expansion of Shah Cheragh

The organized destruction in the historical fabric of Shiraz for the development of the Shah Cheragh shrine has been accelerating.

Loaders and bulldozers have been demolishing and removing historical buildings since Monday, February 7th.

The purpose of these demolitions is to expand the Shah Cheragh shrine as a center for promoting Shia Islam in southern Iran.

Under the direct supervision of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic, this project includes the construction of a pilgrims’ lodge, buildings to serve the pilgrims, and several religious complexes.

The extensive destruction of the historical fabric of Shiraz is intended to connect the Shah Cheragh shrine with the Imamzadeh Ibrahim and the Seyed Aladdin Hussein shrines.
