Elon Musk will soon only use X for calls and text messages.
Elon Musk is still working to add the ability to make audio and video calls to X. Now, the billionaire claims in his latest post that he intends to set aside his phone and exclusively use X for calls and even sending text messages in the near future.
In a new post on the X social network, Musk says, ‘In a few months, I will disconnect my phone number and only use X for text messages and audio/video calls.’
Elon Musk has made this claim while stating that due to security limitations, it is currently not possible to rely on a single platform for calls and text messages. As Nima Oji, an independent app researcher, tells Gizmodo, verification codes sent via text messages still play a significant role in our online lives.
In fact, platforms like WhatsApp send verification codes to users when they want to create a new account. Even X itself uses text message codes for user verification, although this option is only available to premium subscribers.
If he really intends to implement this idea, Mask essentially forces users to purchase a premium X subscription for a minimum cost of $8 per month in order to contact him, while all users can respond to their video or voice calls. However, the ability to make calls is only available to premium subscribers.
