End of Trade Relations Between Iran and Germany
The German Ministry of Economy says it will no longer issue export guarantees for trade and investment with Iran, except in rare and exceptional cases.
The volume of Germany’s trade with the Islamic Republic in the first nine months of 2022 was about 1.5 billion euros, but it seems Berlin intends to unilaterally halt this trade.
The German federal government is stopping aid to Iran, citing the violent suppression of nationwide protests in Iran as the reason.
From now on, export credit guarantees and investment, as well as educational programs and facilities for participating in trade exhibitions, will be suspended.
German companies can no longer rely on federal government export and investment guarantees when trading with Iran.
The German Ministry of Economy states that the deterioration of the situation in Iran is very serious, and the federal government has suspended the financial tools for foreign trade and trade routes between Germany and Iran.
