Europe expresses concern over the U.S. re-exiting the Paris Agreement
Executive orders by U.S. President Donald Trump to re-exit the Paris Climate Agreement and also the World Health Organization have sparked reactions from countries around the world and non-governmental organizations.
Eva Hernchirova, spokesperson for the European Union on health affairs, expressed concern over the United States leaving the World Health Organization during a press conference in Brussels on Tuesday, stating, ‘We are determined to work with our American partners and hope that this process of U.S. withdrawal is still under review.’
The World Health Organization also expressed regret that its most significant financial supporter would take such an action.
The organization’s spokesperson expressed hope that the United States would reconsider this decision and engage in constructive dialogue for the benefit of everyone, including Americans and people worldwide.
On the other hand, Guo Jiakun, spokesperson for China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated that the role of the World Health Organization should be strengthened, not weakened.
