Exclusive report by The Washington Post: From Turkey to Canada, the Islamic Republic offers thousands of dollars to thieves and smugglers to kill dissidents

The Washington Post, in an investigative report, has stated that the intelligence and security services of the Islamic Republic of Iran offer hundreds of thousands of dollars to jewelry thieves, drug traffickers, and other criminals to kidnap and kill dissidents and critics of the regime.

This audio report, released on December 2nd, is based on government documents and interviews with 15 officials in Washington, Europe, and the Middle East.

The report claims that over the past two years, the Iranian government has increased its efforts to kidnap and kill government officials, activists, and journalists worldwide, including in the United States.

This report has been published while providing examples of the Iranian political system’s efforts against dissidents, and some Persian-language media in recent days have reported on the murder of Mohammad Shabani in Turkey and the threat against Mehdi Hajati, an Iranian refugee residing in Turkey. Mohammad Shabani was the former head of public relations for the Shiraz municipality, and Mehdi Hajati was a former member of the Shiraz city council. Both came to Turkey as refugees after being arrested and imprisoned.
