The first contact of the German Chancellor with Putin after 2 years

According to the German government spokesperson on Friday, November 15th, Olaf Scholz, the Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany, and Vladimir Putin, the President of Russia, spoke with each other by phone after nearly two years of no contact.

Based on the information released, in this conversation which lasted more than an hour, Scholz condemned Russia’s aggressive war against Ukraine and asked Putin to end this war and withdraw his forces from the country.

In this phone call, the German Chancellor also emphasized the importance of Russia’s readiness to negotiate with Ukraine with the aim of establishing a just and lasting peace.
