Former parliament representative approves marriage of an 11-year-old girl with the consent of her legal father

Taybeh Siasi, the former representative of the parliament, referring to a bill known as the Women’s Security Promotion Bill, said that according to Article 1041 of this bill, the marriage of a 12-11-year-old girl with the consent of her father is legally permitted.

The physical and psychological damages caused by child marriage have irreparable effects on the lives of these children, including underage pregnancies, maternal mortality, depression, suicide attempts, divorce, dropping out of school, and the perpetuation of the cycle of poverty, culture, and economy.
