Former Persepolis striker facing prison sentence
The former Persepolis football team striker may be sentenced to seven years in prison for a recent action he has taken.
Anthony Stokes, a former striker for the Irish national football team who also has a history of playing for Persepolis, was arrested last Friday for driving offenses. In Stokes’ car, a quantity of white powder suspected to be cocaine with a value of over 4,500 euros was also found.
While the initial charge against Stokes is driving without a license and insurance, he is now facing more serious charges after the discovery of drugs.
According to the Sunday World newspaper, dangerous driving carries a sentence of up to 6 months in prison, while possession of drugs, if confirmed to be cocaine, could result in a maximum sentence of 7 years in prison.
