Dr. Moayyed, the former head of the Medical Council, warns about the migration and escape of doctors.
Dr. Mostafa Moayyed, the former head of the Medical Council, wrote an article titled ‘The Decline of Medicine in Iran in the Near Future,’ warning about the country’s medical situation facing a decline in the near future.
Promoting pseudo-science and superstition as Islamic medicine on television and by officials is actually belittling the Iranian medical community, which enjoys high popularity and public trust. As a result, the migration and even escape of medical professionals are influenced by negligence, injustices, and superficial judgments.
The living conditions of doctors in the public sector are chaotic. I hold the record for infant heart surgeries, and my surgery waiting list is full until 1405. I cannot accept non-emergency surgeries for children until 1406.
For years, we have been warning various officials about these issues. Infant heart surgery is a challenging field and is not favored, which is why we cannot accommodate this volume of patients.
I cannot currently advise young doctors to enter this field because they are fully aware of its challenges and do not accept the conditions.
