I stand with the people of Iran, says the German Foreign Minister
In her speech at the Human Rights Council meeting, Annela Barbock, the German Foreign Minister, also addressed the situation in Iran. She condemned the brutal suppression of protests and the deaths of hundreds of men, women, and children.
Addressing the people of Iran, she said, ‘We will not forget you. We stand with you every day.’
Barbock urged the leadership of Iran to halt the violent crackdown on peaceful protests and to stop issuing or carrying out any death sentences.
The United Nations Human Rights Council decided in November 2022 to establish a fact-finding committee on the violence and suppression by the authorities of the Islamic Republic of Iran towards the protests. The members of this committee have been identified and it has started its work.
