The German Foreign Ministry: Like the United States, we have also changed our stance.
The spokesperson for the German Foreign Ministry spoke on Monday regarding his government’s policies towards Iran. His statements were reflected on the same day the European Parliament officially cut its ties with the Iranian regime.
The spokesperson talked about the recent situation in Iran and the public protests. While a resolution by the Board of Governors of the International Atomic Energy Agency was issued against Iran, and Iran was called by the United States and three European countries, including Germany, to fully and definitively cooperate with the Agency, he explained another aspect of the German government’s stance. He explicitly stated that addressing Iran’s nuclear program and the JCPOA is not the first and main priority of his government. What they deem essential is supporting the Iranian people and punishing the repressive actions of our country’s regime.
He clearly stated that Germany is aligned with the United States in this approach, and this is a stance change that the United States has also undertaken.
