Hamas rejects Israel’s proposal for a 2-month ceasefire

Following reports about the details of Israel’s new proposals for a prisoner exchange, a member of Hamas’ political office announced today that the movement opposes Israel’s offer for a 2-month ceasefire as part of a multi-stage agreement that includes the release of all Israeli captives in Gaza. Hamas insists on a complete cessation of hostilities and the withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza before discussing a prisoner exchange.

Ghazi Hamad, a member of Hamas’ political office, said that the movement opposes this proposal because a 2-month ceasefire would mean that Israel would continue its war and massacre in the Gaza Strip.
