The newspaper Hamshahri stated that the Rouhani administration and the parliament have applied the brakes on inflation.
The newspaper Hamshahri claimed that the thirteenth administration and the eleventh parliament have succeeded in applying the brakes on inflation.
According to Hamshahri, while there are only 13 days left until the twelfth round of parliamentary elections and the sixth round of Assembly of Experts elections, anti-people and opposing movements are trying to discourage society from participating in the elections with various tactics. The shared goals of the parliament and the government, along with the unified determination of the two branches of power in order to control inflation, have achieved significant results in this area, including breaking the record for point-to-point inflation reduction in the first half of the current year compared to similar periods in the past three decades.
The newspaper has written that the thirteenth government and the eleventh parliament have successfully managed to slow down the inflation train in the country by adopting common strategies and approaches. This is in contrast to the unsuccessful performance of the twelfth government and the tenth parliament in this regard. A shift in policy-making occurred with the participation of the people at the ballot boxes, at a time when the inflation rate in the country was continuously setting historical records. The twelfth government concluded its term under conditions where statistics published by the Statistical Center and the Central Bank announced inflation rates between 50 to 60 percent.
Hamshahri added that the twelfth government concluded its term while official statistics showed an inflation rate of 359 percent. However, the common solutions of the government and parliament led to a noticeable and downward trend in inflation. According to data from the International Monetary Fund, Iran’s inflation rate will decrease from 47 percent in 2023 to 32 percent in 2024.
