The head of the National Center for Cyberspace Review has announced the initiation of a review of filtering policies.
Mohammad Amin Aghamiri stated during the Iran Digital Conference that a review has begun in filtering policies, but emphasized that attention has been given to network quality and programs have been developed to improve its quality. He expressed hope to provide the public with a desirable quality.
Aghamiri also mentioned the review in the filtering section, stating that it consists of several parts. One part is related to policies regarding filtering, which we are currently examining. All stakeholders and decision-makers in the field have entered and are under review.
Regarding the issue that people cannot always use circumvention tools, he said that they are being examined and the number of platforms required by the people has been addressed before the holiday. Platforms related to gaming have undergone review and changes to remove filters have been implemented. We are also focusing on reviewing policies regarding blocking for other platforms. Currently, we do not have a specific framework for filtering, but we are designing a framework with stakeholders. The example is a working group composed of members from various branches of government, parliament, and the judiciary.
In response to the question about your opinion on unblocking platforms like Twitter and YouTube, Aghamiri said that we will discuss this matter in detail in the future.
